Before Renovation of the Boy’s Block
This extensive renovation took place in 2003. Old, dilapidated dormitories were demolished and replaced
with small family-style accommodation and new bathrooms.

This was a landmark day in Hortolova, attended by the region’s Governor, officials from the Bryansk 
Department of Education – and some very happy children!

Before Renovation of the Girl’s Block
The Girl's Block before it was renovated to a much higher standard. The old dilapidated dormitories were 
knocked a replaced by new ones of a much higher standard.
After Renovation of the Girl's Block
In 2004 this new building was opened in Hortolova. As well as new and more homely bedrooms for the girls,
it also incorporated large recreational rooms and a hairdressing salon!
Person of the Year
Awards ceremony for Debbie when she won 'Person of the Year'. Debbie won this award for her outstanding 
contribution to the children of the Bryansk region in Russia.
